What’s in a Name?
I knew that at some point I would have to get a little personal, and reflective and think about a name for my business. What ONE thing would sum up my life/dreams/team/future? NO PRESSURE right? This isn’t something to be taken lightly that’s for sure!
It took me a long time (in my mind) to come up with a name that meant something to me. To me it was perfect. It wasn’t flashy, it wasn’t sparkly, and it didn’t incorporate big power words or a cool logo. One word. THRIVE. Let me explain. We all have a past and we can choose to run from that or we can choose to use it and help others. My past involves hurt, and an eating disorder that I still battle, but it also involved victory. The definition of thrive is to grow and develop well, to flourish, to prosper. Taking it one step further, thrive means to grow and flourish despite ones past or circumstances. To me that means using your past to affect your future, NOT to limit you future.
The past 2 years I’ve come in contact with so many who have incredibly inspiring stories. The strength is in the struggle. I love that on our team, thrive takes on a different meaning for each person and that we can use our broken pieces to build a whole. I love that we are all used for a purpose and that we all have it in us to bless and inspire others!
I know what it’s like to be ashamed of my past. I didn’t want others to know my “dark” side. Who would want to work with me? Who wouldn’t? People don’t relate with perfection. There’s no such thing! It’s unattainable and exhausting! It’s NOT REAL! When you embrace the imperfections and use them to grow you will grow, reach and encourage so many. That’s what I’ve learned. You CAN make a difference everyday just being YOU. You can #THRIVE
